PPEP Talk Menstrual Education
The Periods, Pain and Endometriosis Program (PPEP TalkĀ®) Menstrual Education for students in Grades 5-9 is a 90 minute wellbeing presentation educating students and smashing the shame and taboo around periods, one classroom at a time.
This presentation informs about basic menstrual education and encourages a positive mindset towards the menstrual cycle by addressing stigmas and common fears. Content includes and goes beyond Health syllabus content.
Students learn about what a period is and why it happens, reproductive organs, and the hormones involved in the menstrual cycle. They learn about bleeding, period products, hygiene and discharge. Students learn how to track their cycle and how they may feel different physically, mentally, emotionally and behaviourally from week to week. They also learn the basics about period pain and many options that can help reduce pain and other uncomfortable symptoms. Students learn strategies to work with these changes to thrive in school, sports and life during their period.
