Local Community Playgroups
The Southside Initiative works with Southside primary schools to explore opportunities to better connect families with local community services and support. Many of these schools offer free weekly playgroups that are also open to the local community to attend.
Community playgroups all run a little differently depending on the group dynamic. Most groups meet in a community space or venue, such as a Community Centre or school. All group members should assist in the general running of the Playgroup, organising activities, story time, singing etc, and with the set up and pack up, as well as the cleaning at the end of each session.
Some Playgroups are very structured with a set routine each week, while others are unstructured and take the lead of the children, and other Playgroups still fall somewhere in between!
